12th March 2002

HoBo Bully, HoBo John and honorary HoBo MiniAmy  piled in the New HoBo Mobile and headed across the peak district to Manchester to see the brilliant new band ‘Tomahawk’,  (for more info see www.ipecac.com)

Support came from Dalek and Ex Girl . Both of whom are decent  and worth checking out. The Tomahawk album is rarely off the HoBo gramaphone so we had high expectations of this show, and , not surprisingly they delivered the goods. The band only have one album to their name so far, so with a couple of covers thrown in we are treated to a short but sweet set. Patton is a class act as ever making jokes (MANchester or manCHESTer, which is it?) and throwing himself all over the shop. The rest of the guys are tight and sound great, drummer John Stanier truly looks like a kid on christmas day up there when he’s playing. There was just a good enough size crowd to make this a good show, but don’t think they will be playing venues this small next time round.

Its no secret that the Flashing HoBo loves Mike Pattons many bands, but when they are so consistently brilliant what choice do we have but to keep telling you good readers about it. After all if we can convert one Nickleback fan to something of actual quality then our time on earth will be justified.

HoBo Says “bands of this quality are a rare breed and need support, so don’t give your money to the wwf, use it to see a Tomahawk show instead.
