Romanov Star.9.10.00.The Charlotte. Leicester. England I was sent their debut e.p about two months ago and I haven't been able to stop the song 'Know your enemy' from rattling around my cranium ever since. The Charlotte is fairly busy for a monday night and there is a good atmosphere. The band come on decked out in white lab coats sporting the bands name and logo making them look like a gang of scientists who've picked up instruments and formed a band. They should go the whole hog and stick test tubes and bunsen burners all over the stage, perhaps perform a few experiments. There is nothing clinical about the performance however as they play a short explosive set with a few mellow moments that ends with a ballsy rocked up version of a Kate Bush song (I would have thought that was a bad idea if I hadn't heard it). A very impressive set played faultlessly, go see!
